British Air Force Typhoon FGR4s have conducted a mission with France's air force in a joint strike on an underground arms cache in Syria employed by the Daesh militant organization, according to the UK Ministry of Defence.
The site, identified by intelligence, was assessed as containing munitions and bombs, the statement said, and was situated in hills just north of the historic site of Palmyra in central Syria.
"Our fighter planes utilized Paveway IV guided bombs to hit a series of entry passages leading to the site... initial indications indicate the strike was effective," the ministry announced.
There was no sign of any civilian impact in the attack conducted Saturday night and each participating jet returned safely, the defence officials confirmed.
The British jets were assisted by a Voyager tanker plane.

RAF aircraft have performed patrols over Syria to "deter any attempted comeback" of IS after its military defeat at the Baghuz confrontation in 2019, the ministry said.
